All the glory goes to Him

This picture was one of the first paintings I did after a very difficult period of my life. I’d recovered from a serious illness – against all the odds – and felt I’d sunk to the bottom.

The fish is on the bottom but all around are beautiful shells – sand catching the distant light that filters through the water – seaweed growing – but the fish is not flat or pointing downward – the fish is turning upwards –attracted by the light and air – rising upwards – effort is needed – the fish has begun to rise up.

The fish is not stuck at the bottom – it chooses to rise – and with the help of the water and currents – it will make it to the light and fresh air – feel the warmth of the sun as it rises – onwards and upwards – moving forward to the light.

Sometimes we can feel we’re on the bottom – it’s unfamiliar – maybe dark – but light filters through, beckoning us to dare to look up – calling us higher – yes, even in the depths God’s beauty and creation is to be found – he is there with us drawing us upward –

Take time to look at this picture – because I hope that God will show you something too. It may be totally different from my experience – but allow God to move. Simply look and enjoy His creative gift – all the glory goes to Him.
