From the Castle Window

Life can sometimes make you feel trapped as if behind a castle wall.

Looking out across a valley a moat to a distant land full of red balloons and ferris wheels, where the laughter and love seem to be evident.

Yet you feel trapped in a castle, stone walls face you. Cold floors meet your feet, and you feel the pressure of life caving in on you.

Maybe your castle is sickness, maybe its poverty and lack, maybe its relationships that hurt, loneliness or grief.

You see those castle windows only provide a thin view and the biggest thing that looms over you is the height of the walls of pain, the coldness of sickness the loneliness of that broken marriage that leave you trapped in the slither of an abundant life that you can see through the window.

It’s hard to believe when our perspective is so narrow and so limited, by that which we face.

The bible tells us “ Hope deferred makes the heart sick”

When we can only see a slither, our hope gets trampled on and soon our heart is sick, we can only see what we see and our mouths start to speak out of the abundance of that seeing.

So where can we find hope when the view is so small, when sickness and pain are real and large and loom over you in the depths of your real and not imagined castle?

We once did a show that talked about using our “indoor eyes” bear with me. This is your imagination, or your spirit man, not looking at what we can see in the natural but that which we can see with our eyes of faith, imagining with the Lord of what life looks like outside your broken world.

Sometimes that takes a deliberate act of cutting out pictures of being well, being free smiling again, and placing them on the wall where you can see and imagine.

Where your perspective will be more than your slither.

Surrounding yourself with those that install hope and do not break your spirit, and yes that may mean for a time or forever cutting ties with those that keep you bound in your castle or do not provide the hope you need.

We were destined to live and run and laugh and be full of vision and hope and joy, we were not created to be captive in castles, but princesses and princes riding on the back of horses freed by the Son.

So today what is your castle and who or what has you captive, look up, find your fight princess, prince of God, straighten your crown. Widen your window and reach for the red balloons and once you have them, don’t allow man or devil to steal them ever again.

Fly princess fly

Keep strong
